Skiing is a sport and pastime that is growing more and more in popularity every single day.  Because of this, people with families are choosing to take their loved ones to beautiful snow covered ski resorts to give them a holiday that they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. Getting young children to take part in skiing at a young age is beneficial for both them, and their parents. The tricky part is finding somewhere that will keep the parents and the children happy. That’s where we come in. In this article we’ll take a look at some of the best Skiing resorts in France that cater for people both young, and old.

Avoriaz – First on our list is the picturesque Avoriaz. The first thing you’ll notice when you get here is how quiet and peaceful it is. There’s a reason for that. There are no cars. That alone should give you a little peace of mind, knowing that your children are just that little bit safer. Rather than cars, the only things you will need to be wary of are: Horses and carriages. Yes you did read that right, the locals here get around by Horse-drawn carriages. These alone help to give this place a distinctly magical feel. There are ski schools for youngsters to learn how ski from an early age, and on top of that, as if skiing wasn't enough fun for you and your kids. There’s also a water park in the region as well.

Megeve – If rustic is what you seek then look no further. Megeve oozes rustic charm and has a certain charm about it that simply cannot be replicated. Despite this, it operates as a fantastic, fully functional, modern ski resort that has become one of the most popular in the region. There are slopes and runs for beginners, seasoned experts, and everybody in between. If your children are fond of fast food, and let’s face it 90% of all children are, you may be pleased to learn that there’s a McDonalds restaurant nearby. So that’s tea taken care of for at least one day of your holiday. Organising a Megeve transfer is simple to with a number of companies offering their service and the transfer time is only around 1 hour.

La plagne – This area is home to an extremely impressive 11 resorts! You’ll be spoilt for choice if you decide that this region is for you. They have skiing activities, ice climbing, free buses, and cable cars to transport you up and down your favourite skiing runs. This region has something for everybody, including your children, who will be extremely well catered for.

Chamonix – No article about skiing would be complete without mentioning Chamonix, which is arguably the most popular and highly visited skiing region in the entire world. Don’t be put off by this as it’s still a very peaceful and picturesque region. You should take note however, that Chamonix does host a number of runs that are intended for serious, professional skiers that are not intended for novices. Never fear, because there are still a very large number of perfectly safe, fun runs that everybody can enjoy safely. Chamonix is a large resort which means that this destination can provide you with absolutely everything required to ensure that you and your children have a fantastic time here. Like Megeve the resort is ideally located only 1 hour from Geneva and the guys at Chamonixfirst can organise all your travel needs.

Les Karellis- perfect for people with especially young children, Les Karellis is another resort that is car free. The area has a number of different locations where you can hire absolutely everything that you would ever need on a skiing holiday. It is even baby friendly as there are several outlets that allow you to hire baby cots, baths, high chairs, and much more too. To allow you to take in the stunning scenery why not think about hiring, what the locals call ‘Une Luge-Pousette’, a sledge for children that will keep them entertained for hours.
If you want a quiet few hours to yourself, away from the children, then there are several child minding clubs and even a disco. There are obviously, several ski schools for children over 4, so your kids can learn the fine art of skiing at a young age.
